This British native plant is found in fens, marshes, and flooded meadows across the UK, although suffering in some areas from habitat loss. It has lovely neat glossy little peltate leaves, almost circular with slightly ruffled edges. It has a creeping habit and is an excellent foliage plant for covering the edge of the pond or underplanting taller species (the third picture shows it growing in a pot with an iris).

If designing a planting scheme, we recommend approximately 3 Hydrocotyle vulgaris plants per square foot of ground, or 1 plant per linear foot of pond edge. Read more here on how to pot and care for your plant.
